Aidan - Flat Stanley Visits Cape May, New Jersey!

Flat Stanley recently visited a fellow Coast Guard family in Cape May, New Jersey. He visited during some of the recent snowstorms. Although it was cold, Flat Stanley had a great time visiting new friends!

Elizabeth - Flat Stanley Visits Florida!

Dear Elizabeth,

I was so excited when your Aunt Kim told me Flat Stanley was coming
for a visit!  Your Aunt Kim and I have been friends since we were 2nd
graders in Gorham too, so I knew Stanley must have been in good hands
before he came to my house.

Even though it's February, Flat Stanley fit right in with his t-shirt
and shorts in Florida -- it was about 80 degrees!  We live in
Gulfport, which is a little beach town just south of St. Pete. St.
Pete is a big city like Portland, and it's nice to visit there, but
it's also nice to come home to our quiet and fun little town of
Gulfport.  There's a big beach about two blocks from our house, but
there's also a big marina on the other side of town, where people keep
their boats when they're not out sailing and fishing.  Flat Stanley
came for a bike ride with us down to the Marina, where we learned
about Manatees (the call them "sea cows"!  Maybe Mrs. Sturgis can show
you a picture :) ), and went for a hike up a big hill where we could
look over all the trees and shrubs below.  Florida has a lot of pines,
but they're very tall and skinny -- not thick and fat like the pine
trees in Maine.  Stanley climbed up into a Giant Palm and pretended to
hide from us -- the palm was so big, we almost couldn't find him!  We
biked past a small lake and saw some big bird's nests on top of a
tree.  It looked like there was an eagle in there, but it could have
been another big Florida bird like an egret or a heron.

We had so much fun with Flat Stanley!  Thank you for letting him stay
with us.  We hope he can come back and visit soon! (Disney World is
only an hour away: maybe he could stay with Mickey Mouse next time!)

I've included some pictures of our trip -- hope you and your class like them!

Love,
Jayme

Check out the Manatee!
Can you see me?!?!
I love Florida!  The weather was so nice!
I enjoyed a bike ride in February!  It was so much fun!
I had the BEST VISIT EVER!

Lydia - Flat Stanley Visits Annapolis, Maryland!

Lydia’s Flat Stanley visited her cousins, Lauren and Will, who live in Annapolis, MD.  Annapolis is the capital of the U.S. state of Maryland, and is situated on the Chesapeake Bay at the mouth of the Severn River.  The city served as the temporary capital of the United States in 1783–1784. Annapolis is the home of the United States Naval Academy.

Flat Stanley visited the Maryland State Capital Building, City Dock, the United States Naval Academy, and Lauren’s elementary school.

Mason – Flat Stanley was in Chattanooga, TN!

Mason, it was my pleasure to show Flat Stanley around Chattanooga, TN, my new home! First, my dog Bentley and Stanley got to know each other!
Bentley was so friendly!  And furry!  And loving!  He was the best!
We went to the  Creative Discovery Museum, which is one of the top Children’s museums in the country!
The museum was so much fun!  I didn't want to leave!
We also went to Chattanooga Choo Choo! Opened in 1909 as Terminal Station, the train depot welcomed thousands of travelers during the golden age of railroads. Today, Terminal Station stands as part of the world famous Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel. History and hospitality are at the heart of the Chattanooga Choo Choo.
Choo Choo!
THE BEST DAY EVER!!!  Can you tell why?!?!
Then, we went to Chattanooga’s Riverfront! This riverside path parallels the Tennessee River from the Chickamauga Dam to Ross's Landing Park in Downtown Chattanooga near the Tennessee Aquarium.
It was so neat seeing the Rivefront!
Can you see me?!?!
Now Flat Stanley is off to Europe!!!
Much love!

Aidan - Flat Stanley Visits the Silicon Valley in California!

Flat Stanley got to visit the Silicon Valley area last weekend.  Aidan's Uncle Christopher works for a tech company there and took Flat Stanley to some really cool companies.  Aidan's cousins, Misato and Seiji, safely escorted Flat Stanley around the area.  He even got to visit a VERY awesome 'historic' landmark in technology history!  You'll have to wait for the last picture to see what it is!

Thank you so much for taking such good care of him!

Oh.My.Gosh!  It's a KitKat Android statue in front of Google Headquarters!
I really want a snack now!
Do you see the jelly bean filled android statue?  My cousin, Misato, is right next to it, too!
My cousins really like that doughnut statue!  I want to eat those sprinkles!
A close up of my cousins, Misato and Seiji... and those JELLY BEANS!!!

Do you "like" it?!?!

kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Apple Headquarters in Cupertino, California.  The building is HUGE!
Wow!  One Infinite Loop is ONE VERY LONG LOOP!!!
My cousins are in front of the humble home of Steve Jobs in Los Altos, California.
This is the house where Steve Jobs built some of his first computers.  It is also where he co-founded Apple with friend, Steve Wozniak.
This house was recently added to a list of historic Los Altos properties.
Amazing!
